Political Globalization
Welcome to Political Globalization. Political Globalization provides the forest view rather than the trees – with globalization articles, globalization videos, and everyday conversation about globalization in general and political globalization in particular.
Political Globalization is one aspect of globalization – an inevitable process of humans realizing that they are interrelated when looking at the big picture. Other major aspects are economic globalization and cultural (including religion) globalization. We’ll examine whenever possible the globalization of politics and governance in this website. With the interconnectedness of the Internet today, global problems bubble to the top – human rights, nation-state wars, environmental degradation, etc… These issues call for the organization of collective action to be prioritized, ahead of the integration of managing bilateral relations.
Global governance or world governance is the political interaction of transnational actors aimed at solving problems that affect more than one state or region when there is no power of enforcing compliance. In response to the acceleration of inter-dependences on a worldwide scale, both between human societies and between humankind and the biosphere, world governance designates regulations intended for the global scale.
Here’s the best definition of political globalization and governance we’ve found… the “complex of formal and informal institutions, mechanisms, relationships, and processes between and among states, markets, citizens and organizations, both inter- and non-governmental, through which collective interests on the global plane are articulated, rights and obligations are established, and differences are mediated.
One such call for political globalization is coming from VoteWorldParliament.org, which as a starting point is collecting votes asking the question – “Do you support the creation of a directly-elected, representative and democratic world parliament that is authorized to legislate on global issues?” Thank you for visiting Political Globalization – for a look at the forest rather than just a look at the trees…
